Suitably Qualified Staff At Barons Down Will Ensure That Service Users Are Given Access To Health Care Services To Meet Their Assessed Needs.
Care staff will maintain the personal and oral hygiene of each service user and promote privacy, dignity, choice and independence at all times.
Service users will be assessed for risks on a monthly basis. Any service user at risk will be assessed and a full risk assessment will be undertaken. Any necessary interventions to minimise any risk will be planned for/with the input of the service user/relative and other necessary health care professionals.
The qualified care staff will devise a designated plan of care, for each service user, based on prior assessment and relevant up to date information, gaining input and agreement from the service user, relatives and other health care professionals/multi-disciplinary team.
Staff at Barons Down will promote continence for each service user based on professional advice and provide and maintain any equipment or aids that may be required.
Service users will be given opportunities for appropriate recreational and physical activity.
Nutritional assessment will be undertaken prior to admission and any identified need or change in need will be planned and catered for.
Medication will be administered, handled, recorded and disposed of by suitably qualified staff, and any service user who wishes to self-medicate will be assessed by their medical practitioner.
The senior carer on duty will refer service users to their medical practitioner if they required special medical, dental, dietetic advice, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or a wheelchair assessment.
Service users will also be given the opportunity to have access to chiropody, hospitals and community health services according to need and on the advice of their medical practitioner.
